Artist Names: Di Hallinan & Pamela Rodoreda

Artist/Exhibition Statement:

LAS members, Pamela Rodoreda and Di Hallinan will feature at a celebratory exhibition at “The Gallery” at Mount Omei Casula for one day only. A diverse range of their works will be showcased in this magical venue. The Gallery (originally known as “The Modern Art Gallery”) was first opened in 1976 by Van’s mother, Alice Klaphake and was often referred to as “Alice’s Wonderland”

The Modern Art Gallery now owned by the State Government is being assessed for heritage value by National Parks.
Van Klaphake, now 69 years old, has been asked to leave the property and is deeply concerned regarding the future of Mount Omei. “We always envisaged that it would become an artists precinct and continue to support emerging artists in the region. I’ve lived here since I was 2 years old. I’m concerned the property is earmarked for demolition.”

Artist Name: Linda Brescia

Exhibition Title: "The 'F' Show"

Artist/Exhibition Statement: "The ‘F’ Show brings together a selection of female artists who have worked with and inspired the artist, designer and curator Abdullah M.I. Syed over the last decade. Showcasing works by emerging and established, local and international artists, the exhibition investigates a small cross section of contemporary female artists working today and provides a collective platform to reflect the value and legitimacy of such artists in Australia and beyond. The participating artists firmly challenge the status-quo of a capitalist art market which is often driven by male dominated power structures and has a vested interest in maintaining twentieth-century hierarchies. The artists’ strength and desire to bring change is the fuel for this exhibition" - http://www.northartspace.com.au/about/
